[livejournal.com profile] nialla42 and [livejournal.com profile] joonscribble alerted me that the BBC has done another set of three radio dramas. They can be downloaded in the UK, but they're only available to listen outside the UK for a week, I think.

This link goes to the last of the three but gives links to the others; I hope that this link goes to the first, "The Devil and Miss Carew". (I give them both because I gather some people liked the third one best, and this link will no doubt expire first.)

Brilliant Husband and I listened to "The Devil and Miss Carew" tonight and enjoyed it, even if it's a bit silly.

Cast spoilers )

If, like me, you didn't like the last couple of days of "Children of Earth," read [livejournal.com profile] ninjasnano's "Season of Mists". Do heed the warnings, but I think I'm among the more sensitive in this crowd, and I found nothing gratuitous in this tightly woven novella. Excellent original characters and very deft characterization of our old friends—including dear old Andy, whom I was pleased to see here. The well-crafted plot contrasts with the mini-series, which I really felt began unraveling, but CoE isn't denied or undone. I'm not sure I'm going to watch s4 of Torchwood. Even though this sequel to CoE isn't all hearts and flowers by any means (and all the more fitting for that), it hit home for me in a way I really doubt the official s4 will.

You might like "Season of Mists" even if you did like all of CoE.

Decisions, decisions; I had a very hard time selecting a title for this entry, because so many came to mind. I hope that one isn't too spoilery. Rant filled with spoilers )

Yes, I've seen through Day Four. I do plan to post my thoughts eventually. But tonight, I'll post someone else's thoughts. (First, though: has anyone else had trouble with the title? I have announced "Torchwood: Children of Men" at least twice, due to Brilliant Husband's saying it far more often, and I've had "Torchwood: Children of the Gods" on the tip of my tongue.)

AfterElton has done Facebook recaps for each of the days of Torchwood.
Possibly not safe for: work, small children, eating, or drinking.
Day One
Day Two
Day Three
Day Four

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] aurora_novarum for the tip!

Remember how I said, "Download those audio plays quickly, before the Beeb realizes they've left them open to the States?" I went to download the third play, and it downloaded really suspiciously fast, so I checked it right away and got the "We're sorry that you don't live in the UK, you poor sod" message. I made a sound roughly like the one Charlie Brown makes when Lucy pulls the football away at the last moment and he goes flying through the air. (I have not gone back to see if they've pulled the ones I'd already downloaded.)

Fortunately, [livejournal.com profile] joonscribble had already posted by the time I finished making my cartoon AAAUUUUGGGHHHHH sound, with this link. I don't know who uploaded it, but I am very grateful!

We heard "Asylum" last night. It wasn't brilliant, but it was Torchwood, for which I'm starved enough that I definitely appreciated it.

Thanks to everyone who reminded me of clichéd moments I'd forgotten, especially on Stargate and Farscape! There were so many I had to go back and update the list; I stuck with the original list and put in additions with proper credit. Please don't hesitate to suggest more or make corrections! I'm sure I'm still missing some, perhaps many! Have to be complete, have to be complete--no, I'm fine, how are you?

I must say I'm pleased to see at least a couple of people did the meme with my additions to the list of clichés, and I feel famous for having the first item on this week's [livejournal.com profile] sg1_debrief!

[livejournal.com profile] redbyrd_sgfic asked about my previous post, "Heh- the real question, how many of these are *canon* in Stargate?!" So I started thinking, and I couldn't stop: aren't these clichés popular partly because we've seen so many on the shows themselves? I'm most active in Stargate fandom, but I'll plug in others as they come to mind. Cliches on tv )
