I keep meaning to post and not doing it! I will try to make some shorter posts instead of the kind of longer round-up that I'm not likely to finish.

I discovered that my fanfic site The Mead Hall went down, probably in late November 2012. I have been paying it so little mind that on the rare occasions I have looked in the last 18 months, I have found it not working and made a mental note to talk to Brilliant Husband and then promptly lost the mental note. I have done this at least twice before I realized that it's really down! On the other hand, my ownership of the site expires in July, and I'm not paying for it again, so I'm letting it go. I am in the process of moving my fanfic all to AO3; you can find me here.

I have 18 stories up now. None of my Primeval or Stargate: Atlantis stories have made it yet, but they will be there; if you want a specific story added that I haven't yet put up, just let me know, and I'll put it at the top of my List of Stories to Move!

Also note that I have given up on writing recommendation posts. I just can't manage to do it. I have been saving up Sherlock stories for a rec post, and I just don't think that's ever going to happen, because I've mostly gone off Sherlock except for stories by a few writers, and I cannot find the motivation to make a post for a fandom where I'm hardly doing any reading. Most of what I did mean to rec, I bookmarked on AO3, so you can go to that link above, click to see my profile, and then find my Bookmarks in the left-hand menu.

Moreover, I suddenly fell into Marvel and Captain America fandom. (Okay, more honestly: Winter Soldier fandom, with healthy sides of Captain America, Sam, and Natasha, though the proportions of those vary.) Aware that I can't manage rec posts, I have begun trying to make slightly fuller summaries of stories I'm bookmarking as recommendations so that not only can I remember them when I look back, but friends can decide whether they might want to read each.

On the downside, I realized yesterday that I appear to have tagged fully half the stories I've bookmarked "friendship," and I suspect I'd have tagged a lot more that way if I'd been tagging for people other than just me when I started making bookmarks. And "friendship" actually describes what attracts me to nearly all these stories, so you might not find it a useful tag if you decide to search my bookmarks.

First: someone on my flist wrote a Cabin Pressure story connected with "Vaduz," and I missed the episode and so feared to read the story in case there were spoilers. I finally broke down and bought "Vaduz" and listened (love it!)—and now I can't remember who wrote the fic and where it is.

Hello there! I know I haven't been around a lot lately, but I found a fun meme to play with, so please respond!

My fanfic can be found on LJ using the tag fanfic--or clicking here. That includes even my most recent little stories (ha! as if I ever wrote a truly "little" story). I haven't updated Aelfgyfu's Mead Hall recently, but that's the only place to read most of my longer stories/novels.

All these stories involved things that never made it into writing or made it and were later cut, so don't hesitate to ask about a short one, a long one, or a long-ago one.

I took the OTW Community Survey!

I found a link to the OTW survey at AO3 and took it. I think the idea of OTW is very important but haven't really done much to support it; taking the survey is just a little thing, but that I could do.

I didn't write much fanfic in 2011. In fact, I wasn't going to do a round-up until I lost count of my friends who were doing year-end round-ups and wrote how sad they were that they hadn't done more. Ha! I can be more pathetic than any of y'all!

I went to my website, Aelfgyfu's Mead Hall, and confirmed my memory that I didn't even manage to post a single story there this past year, even though I wrote three short stories in 2011. I just have to redo a bit of the coding and hand them over to Brilliant Husband, but I can't even manage that. I wanted to redo a bit of "Doppelganger" to make sure that it will make sense to Chuck fans who don't know Stargate SG-1, but I can't seem to muster the will or the mind to do it. . . .

My year in fic consists of Tales of an Accidental Fic Writer.

My plan for 2011: write the third story in my Primeval AU; write more SG-1; dabble elsewhere.

What I actually did in 2011: I wrote two Chuck stories and one for Cabin Pressure (details below).

Seriously, Muse?
1. I don't even read Chuck fic! I have read virtually no Chuck fic whatsoever; I'm just not that interested in the show, though I think Adam Baldwin is great.
2. Cabin Pressure is a radio show. I have so far heard: two or three random episodes of series 2; one random episode of series 3; all but the last episode of series 1. That's a total of about eight half-hour episodes of a radio show. I have read some Cabin Pressure fic, and I remain perplexed by it, because for me little of it strikes the right notes. How can I write fic for something of which I know so little?

Good heavens! I have committed Cabin Pressure fic. I'm not entirely sure how it happened, but it happened. I wrote it quickly, and I really didn't think it quite merited a beta reader beyond Brilliant Husband. (Besides that, the one person I'd ask to beta is a) busy and, more importantly for me, b) the one person I'm sure will read it. And I can't have no one but the beta comment on it, so I didn't ask her to beta. She no doubt knows who she is.)

If there are any errors, please do let me know. If they don't interfere with a joke, I'll even do my best to fix them! If fixing them would harm a joke, I make no promises.
