Mostly, I hate the plots on Glee. I can't stand half the adults who are regulars. The less I see of Will Schuster, the better. I pretty much only like Sue Sylvester when she's with her sister. I never want to see Teri or her sister again. I only like Emma some days.

For me, it's The Kurt and Mercedes Show—or The Kurt and Kurt's Dad and Mercedes Show.
Oh, Kurt! I nearly cried with that scene in the basement. His dad's right, but it about broke my heart to see Burt having to defend his son in his own house, and in a way that he fears will jeopardize his relationship with Carole. And Kurt had really pushed Finn too far, and I think he knew it and felt guilty. I don't excuse Finn for what he said. That was just wrong. He should have handled his freak-out differently. But I do understand the freak-out. He knows Kurt has a crush on him, and it's one thing to share a locker room or even a bunkroom with a gay guy; it's another thing to share a small bedroom with someone of any sex or orientation with someone in crush/love/lust with you. I'd have freaked myself.

I cared about Rachel in this one. I think it's a triumph of the actress over the script, because they make it really, really hard to care about her.

I do like Tina. The vampire scene with the principal was the funniest scene of the show for me. She's not shy when she's acting, and that was quite an act!

I love how these kids can just whip up any costume with a day's notice (except for Rachel, because "My dads don't sew"). Brilliant Husband said, "Hey, aren't Kurt's shoes designer shoes worth hundreds?" I think so; didn't one of you all link to those somewhere? A few weeks or months ago? ETA: See [livejournal.com profile] lunachickk's post on such shoes!

One of my (non-LJ) friends complained that it was worse than an after-school special. Are you kidding? Every week has a message! They usually hit us over the head with it repeatedly! "Be yourself." "Own your body." At least this week, the moral wasn't deliberately and explicitly handed out by Will My-Personal-Life-is-a-Train-Wreck-but-I-Can-Give-You-Personal-Advice Schuster!

I can't say I'm a Gaga fan, but now I'm curious enough to see if I can dig up a vid to see what those costumes really looked like (especially Rachel's first costume—"And we have a jumper!").

One last thing, though: I hate it when they praise the originality and importance of the celebrity of the week. I didn't like it when they did it with Madonna, who has enough staying power that even I can't deny her importance and influence. Lady Gaga hasn't been around long enough to show that she's not a flash in the pan. If we want to see women taking on characters and singing, let's hear someone with a fantastic voice. I want an Annie Lennox episode. They can do some Eurythmics and some of her solo work. She has a far better voice than Madonna, more interesting songs, and doesn't come with cheap jokes about dating children.

I guess one after-last thing: I suppose we'll never see them do Weird Al, but I keep hearing alternate words in my head to the songs they're doing.
