Ah, but I'm faster when I type what I want to say!

ETA: Repeated attempts by my husband (to score at all) and me (to improve my score) crashed Safari on two different machines. Attempt at your own peril. I will try again with Firefox.

ETA2: Better in Firefox. I got 87 words (1 wrong). I told Brilliant Husband, "I gotta post it!" He said, "You gotta boast it!"

My husband tried the site and crashed two browsers on two different machines. I said a few words about that, then tried to improve my score. The first time, it wouldn't give me a score. The second time, I crashed my browser. There seem to be problems with this site.

So if you try it, be warned! Don't have other things open in the browser!

Experience, youngster; you get faster with experience. I've been working in academia since before you got to university. It helps to spend lots of time typing connected prose and not, for instance, computer programming languages, I think.

Tried the first one, and after shifting over to Firefox, got 76 wpm with no errors. Tried the second one, and royally effed it up 'cause I was too busy correcting the punctuation!

76 is pretty good! Punctuation trouble on the second? It seems to produce different passages each time you use it, so I don't think I got the same one.

Yeah. A totally misused semicolon, commas where commas weren't needed and no commas where they should've been... then there's the fact that I'm a traditional typist and ALWAYS put two spaces after the end of a sentence!

Oh! Well, that's interesting! So now I've actually read a penguin fic. I can't really leave feedback for the author, though, because I have absolutely no idea what to say. (Teyla's role in the story freaks me out just a little more than everything else about it; clearly I have not entered into the spirit of penguin!fic.)

Not sure if it's the 'original' penguin fic or not, but I suspect that it is a well known one. I'm with you on the not having a clue, tho there were bits that were hilariously funny. I suspect that it helps if you don't read it as a story, but rather... in an almost meta way? (Don't think that's exactly what I mean, but regardless, not be read as a straight story.) And yeah, 'Teyla' had me going "huh?" but by this point, I was ready to roll with just about anything! *g*

After I read it, I took three running steps from my home office to BH's home office to warn him I was about to send him a URL, and he said, "The penguin story? Already read it." Huh? "Yeah, I was reading the comments on your journal." He too was perplexed by it.
