How John Watson is very nearly the same as Bilbo Baggins

Bilbo

1. spends time with a really tall guy who
   
   1. is annoying
      
   2. knows he's smarter than everyone else
      
   3. disappears and reappears annoyingly
      
   4. likes to go in disguise, not always for any good reason
      
   5. has an addiction to nicotine
      
   6. but redeems himself somewhat by recognizing true worth in a character everyone else undervalues
   
   
2. likes tea
   
3. has guests who impose on him
   
4. goes long stretches without food and sometimes has meals interrupted
   
5. is underestimated by friend and foe alike
   
6. spends no time with women
   
7. turns out to be a shockingly effective criminal, and we must hope he never truly turns to a life of crime
   
8. retires after his big adventures and leads a long and happy life.

John Watson
