Can anyone tell me if Colonel Dave Dixon ("Heroes") is Air Force or some other branch? I've looked in Solutions and glanced at the transcripts (for "Heroes"), but I can't seem to find any indication. They all wear the same uniform, so I can't tell from that, right?

(I had Major Lorne confused for the longest time. I thought he was in one branch, and it turned out to be another. Someone finally set me straight, but then I forgot that answer.)

Arduinna's handbook, which I consider the stargate bible, merely lists him as a colonel and commander of sg-13. Makes me think there isn't anything listing his specific branch of the service. I don't know if getting a screencap could help you any at all, but you might try that.

The trouble is, it's sometimes convoluted in canon. As an example, Colonel Reynolds was Air Force for his first five seasons (his first appearance was in season 2's "Touchstone"), then he suddenly started wearing the Marine uniform and leading SG-3 for the final four seasons. *scratches head*

I don't know when they started wearing the Air Force patches on their uniforms, that might be a clue. I seem to remember it was sometime around 'Enemy Mine' but I wouldn't swear to it.
I didn't realize Reynolds had gotten switched around like that. Surely doesn't help when you're trying to write a story and keep it canon....

My one story dealing with it, I had him still be Air Force, but wearing the Marine-style uniform for unit cohesion. But yes, very confusing...

Fortunately, Dixon's in only that two-parter, which helps.

My suggestion: Air Force. Although Dixon had no distinguishing branch emblem, "Heroes" aired in late 2004, by which point the real USMC had fully-adopted their digital camo (MARPAT) uniform. Also, his subordinate, Simon Wells, ranked "Senior Airman", which is definitely USAF.

I think Dixon was a Marine, but again, I'm not really sure. The way he talked/carried himself he was more Marine than USAF.
