Went and looked up Hawkman (Marvel comics reader, myself ;), and--OMG, he's going to have wings, the fangirls will run amok!

Now, before anyone gets too worked up, I doubt this will be what he's actually wearing. The wings are mechanical, so he can take them off. ;)

Ferretti's there, too!

Veteran Stargate SG-1 actors Michael Shanks and Brent Stait are moving to Smallville. The actors will guest star as members of the Justice Society in an upcoming episode.
Shanks (“Daniel Jackson”) will play the classic DC Comics hero Hawkman in the episode, titled “Society,” according to IGN. The episode is penned by comic book writer Geoff Johns.
Staite will play Dr. Fate in the episode. He played Louis Ferretti in the first season of Stargate SG-1 (including “Children of the Gods”). On Atlantis, he pinch-hit for Connor Trinneer and played the Wraith Michael under prosthetics in the second season finale, “Allies.”
“Society” is expected to air in January.

Hawkman's dress hasn't changed much in the many years of his existence (I fondly remember him from the Superfriends cartoon but always found his backstory somewhat... odd). My first thought wasn't that Shanks would have wings but that he would be shirtless and wearing a chest harness.

I haven't watched Smallville in ages though. Not really sure what all has been covered, uncovered, altered or mutilated anymore. So maybe they will change the costume. Which makes me sad.

I read the write up on Hawkman at wikipedia, and Hawkman has been retconned more than any character I've ever heard of, starting in the 1940's. It's really quite amazing, check it out:

I wasn't suggesting that they'd change his actual uniform, just that if the storyline doen't involve a fight of some kind, he probably won't be wearing it. If it does, though, I expect they'll keep to the traditional garb.

Thank you for that link to the Alexander Siddig interview. That was utterly fascinating, and at times, painful to read.
