Star Trek: and another thing!

I went looking for "red matter" to see if they'd made it up just for the movie and found this: Bad Astronomy Reviews Star Trek. In a nutshull, Phil Plait enjoyed the movie, and he even found some good science. He found a lot of bad science, too. (Thanks to or_mabinogi for the Bad Astronomy blogger's name!)

From him I learned that "red matter" is totally made up.

Phil Plait. I love that man.

Wil Wheaton also reviewed the movie. But it basically boiled down to six words: It was awesome. I loved it.

I learned last night that I NEVER want to go see a sci-fi movie with my sister's boyfriend. Apparently, he's an astronomy nut, and HATED the new Star Trek movie.

I loved it :)

Part of me really wanted to enjoy it, and another part was sure it wouldn't have what I loved about TOS. I hadn't seen a lot of spoilers and was completely unprepared for what really upset me. I have now spent six hours telling myself, "It's not real. Six billion Vulcans did not really die."
