I've been making some small cuts in the flist silently, and it occurred to me that I ought to acknowledge that I'm doing this lest anyone think I'm cutting him or her for something he or she said (or didn't say). I realized when I got back from a recent trip that not only had too many posts piled up for the few days I was gone, but that there are some people who show up on my flist whose entries I pretty much automatically skip anyway. In every case it has to do with the person posting primarily on fandoms I'm not in; it's not personal. The people cut may still post on fandoms I am in, but it has to do with the ratio (or at least my perceptions of the ratio) of posts I read to posts I don't read.
I'm also trying not to cut people whose personal posts I read and comment on, or who read and comment on mine.
I hope I'm not offending anyone, and I want to let you know that I am not offended. I'm just a bit overwhelmed.

BTW, did you see my entry yesterday about the World Digital Library? I thought of you when I saw it.

And why would I cut you anyway? We read each other's journals all the time!

Worse, I nearly gave up trying to catch up after my trip because I had so many piled up! I persevered, and I found that a number were fics or about fics that I just wasn't going to read at all, so they didn't take as much time as I'd feared. If I'd been gone another day or two, though, I'd have probably given up and never realized.
