First I said I wouldn't read anyone else's post. I don't think I went two hours after I said that this morning before I read posts. I had immediately followed the "I'm not reading anyone's posts" with "I'm not going to post myself," so I'll go ahead and break that too.

Bloophole!
They moved Earth's last, best line of defense to Area 51? The Powers didn't want Antarctica to have weapons, so they gave the sole controller of weapons to the US?? I'm not buying it. If China and Russia and the others were so suspicious, they'd hardly want the US in possession of the chair. We'd have to be idiots to put it at the notoriously insecure Area 51, too! How many things have been abused or stolen from there in Stargate SG-1? Honestly!

I'm glad they didn't kill Ronon permanently, but he was dead so short a space of time, and the whole thing so contrived, that I kind of think they should have skipped it in favor of spending more time with Rodney and Carson (although I did say, "Maybe Jason Momoa asked to be killed off so they couldn't make him wear that wig in any future movies!"--I did think he was dead). Seriously, Carson is flying the city from the chair, looking like he's about to have an aneurysm, and Radek and Rodney are both up in Command? Give me a break.

John Sheppard needs help. They should never have let Kate Heightmeyer die! (See [livejournal.com profile] greyias's review here, especially "John Sheppard Still Needs Therapy"!)

The Earth faces imminent attack, so they summon Landry to DC? I'm glad we got Sam, I'm not even much sorry we didn't get The Eyebrows, but that was a pretty weak excuse.

I think John killed Todd, folks. They didn't show it because that would be a come-down at the end of the ep. I know Shep was worried about Todd's cleverness and telepathy, and I think he felt he had to do it. I feel really bad for John. (See again: Greyias, "John Sheppard Still Needs Therapy".)

Wasn't the SGC a little unenthusiastic for Atlantis saving the whole world and then landing more or less safely?

I fear the IOA won't let Our People fly Atlantis back where it belongs! Hijack it, John! They only want it for the chair and the weapons!

What happened to Kanaan and Torren? Honestly, I can see where Teyla might choose to stay on the city, but please tell me they evacuated these two civilians!

What does Major Paul Davis have to do to make Lt. Col.? My gosh, the poor man! He's probably planning to take early retirement and go somewhere where he'll get some respect now; my father-in-law left the service (different service) when he didn't get the promotion and new posting he deserved. He'd probably still be there if they'd given it to him. Instead, he draws his pension and works another job. It's our country's loss.

And only slightly related: this may sound harsh, and it's not meant to. It's not even meant to sound harsh on the person's LJ where I posted some of this as a response. It's to save you as I was saved a few years back. On a listserv, a person who wasn't on the listserv was named, and everyone immediately began mocking the name. I was about to join in when someone finally shot back, "That's a traditional American Indian name, and some of your European names sound pretty funny to some of us." I was so glad that was sent before and not after I joined the "fun." I felt so embarrassed. So you might want to think twice before you say something about Lisa Bonet and Jason Momoa's new baby's name. Yeah, they didn't go for a completely traditional name, they made a new mix, but I think that's pretty cool.

Who cares if Atlantis by the Golden Gate Bridge was silly? Yes, we got the reference, and it makes me happy. ("Everybody remember where we parked!")

I'm with [livejournal.com profile] aurora_novarum: I'm really glad Sam's still wearing the patch, and I bet the Odyssey's secret mission involves SG-1! I was glad to see her, even if I'm convinced she was wearing a bad wig over her now darker hair.

George! They not only haven't forgotten George, they named a ship for him! May it do much better than the Asgard O'Neill!

We got Kavanaugh! I didn't even expect him because Ben Cotton's name wasn't even in the opening credits! I love Rodney's surprise; it echoed mine! We got Lorne! We got Zelenka, Ellis, Caldwell, Amelia, Chuck, Walter--I love you all! (Well, maybe "love" isn't quite the right word for Ellis, but I worked my way up to "like" eventually.)

We got Carson flying the city! I love you, Carson! I wish you and Rodney had had more scenes together! Hey, maybe you weren't as impressive as John Sheppard, but he's a pilot! You're a doctor, not a pilot!

Woolsey thought to let Teyla and Ronon off! He didn't take them for granted, he didn't insult them; he tried to consider them. "This is home." I love you too, Ronon! And Teyla! I finally made an icon of you! (Forgive me, but I had to use Rodney and Carson for the userpic for this entry, because they're My Boys on this show. Always have been, always will be.)

Rodney figured out wormhole drive! You've earned that Nobel, Rodney, even if you never get it.

John Sheppard got to go on another suicide mission! Sorry it didn't quite work out as planned, John; better luck next time. After all, I'm convinced the AU you died last week.

Richard Woolsey didn't have to ask what happens if the drive doesn't work! He gets it! Yay Richard! (I need a Woolsey icon, too!)

In my head, Sheppard takes Atlantis back to Pegasus, hijacking it if necessary (he'll ask for asylum in Pegasus; he really doesn't have much to come back to on Earth), and we go back to having adventures all together as we should.

I've exceeded my daily allotment of exclamation points, so I think that's all for now.

"So... Atlantis?" Daniel said, two steps behind Jack as the man strode the Pentagon corridors, which, come to think of it, looked a lot like the SGC corridors--endless gray.

"Forget it."

"But...."

"Not staying."

"But, for now--I mean, backyard?"

"Not staying."

"But, I only need...."

"Daniel!" Jack stopped. He put both hands on Daniel's shoulder because it always startled the man, shut him up for ten valuable seconds. "No, you cannot go and dig some thing up in some dusty corner that will be bad.... Again. That thing's a bigger trouble-suck than yo...well, than. Which is the only reason the IOA's agreed to get it the hell gone."

"Two days? Forty-ei..."

"Daniel, far as you're concened, it never got here." Turning, Jack started walking. "You know how much damn energy it takes to run those damn shields--it's bliping every damn EM tracking system that gets near. So it's going while folks are still thinking new Bermuda Triangle."

Distracted, Daniel frowned. "Y'know, that's not a bad idea. Edgar Cayce put Atlantis right...."

"Right back were it needs to be. That's where it's going. And, no, you won't be on it then, either."

"But...."

"Keep saying that, and yours is right back on The Odyssey until I get the all-clear. Are we clear?"

"Yes, Jack. Fine. Be that way. Pass up the opportunity for potential discoveries!"

"Oh, I'm getting good at that these days."

I about had a coronary when I thought Ronon was dead. You're correct, there's some nitpicking to do, but all in all it was an okay ending.

Well, with the exception of the McKeller (Yes, I like Keller...just not McKeller!), I think it was a better ending than SG1 got. I loved the little guest shots, including Kavanaugh and Ellis and should-be-promoted Major Davis, but was especially glad they had the ever sexy Caldwell there. Carson was awesome. I mostly liked the whole thing, messy bloopholes and all. I think Todd went free. He may know where more ZPMs are and Atlantis wants them. I'd like to think that Teyla parked baby and dad in a safe place where they could live out their lives without her if necessary. She knows that the Tauri are the best chance of finally defeating the Wraith and making her galaxy free so she opted to help like a good soldier. The moving the chair thing...stupid. They can't keep Atlantis unless they are ready to go public. It's too big.

As for baby names...yes nice to have a fusion of cultures, but still, it's a bit longer than it needed to be. Seriously.

I'm spoiling myself silly on lj. I still have to see the last three episodes :D But you know me. Can't resist reading (comes from years of being behind with Australian TV :D).

This was an awesome ending though - LOVED John's scene with Todd you know how to talk to me, Sheppard = awesome!!

That tribute to Don was sweet - and yes, I like the way Woolsey offered to let them stay - it was a surprising gesture from him, and yet totally in character all at once!

*hugs you*
