Maybe I'm just overcomplicating things with Ruby. I couldn't see how she could be both the distant woman and herself at the same time—though I guess the fairy curse could have bifurcated her in some way? What if what she's telling people is that she's the real Ruby and that's the imposter who stole her youth (when she's younger), her life, etc.?
