Let's talk about that season finale.
Okay, I lied: light on the spoilers, heavy on the whining! If you're here to squee, get out now. There will be no squee here. I had some squee, but it's gone now. If it comes back later, I'll make a separate post.
What the frack?! I am angry! I'm angry at James, but I'm more angry at the writers, who gave us, I think, a ridiculous last few minutes!
I know Peter is FBI, and I know he's trained to use a gun to protect himself. But
a) why was his gun even still there? Surely Callaway should have had it with her and
b) the man who could in an instant realize in the series premiere that the combination they thought was right on the safe spelled "FBI" on a phone keypad didn't think about what it would mean to pick up that gun after James used it to shoot a senator while James was wearing gloves? and
c) Peter was safer without a gun in his hand; I really didn't expect him to pick it up anyway. Did he think he would shoot James? I hope not. Did he think he could intimidate James into putting down his weapon? I don't think so (see start of point b above). What the frell, Peter? What the hezmana, writers?
I think we deserved a season end without a cliffhanger, or at least without such a nasty one. So now we sit around for six or eight months to see if James comes to his senses?
Or if they had security cameras that caught the whole thing? Someone tell me they had security cameras. If not, I'm calling that a bloophole. You heard it here first. The FBI should have had freaking cameras rolling for the whole thing once they thought they were near the box.
I'd also like to complain that letting the acid drip through another level, through the ceiling below, was excessive, and I thought that Mozzie and James should have tried to stop the acid immediately, even if only to ensure that it couldn't touch the box. If they couldn't stop it, then they should have moved, not stared down the hole to see who looked back up at them.
The whole thing was terribly contrived. I was willing to go along with it while it was fun, but it stopped being fun at the end.
The blimp was ridiculous.
I knew they'd find evidence both for Pratt's guilt and James's in that box. Mozzie knew. I also knew that Mozzie would switch boxes on him.
And frankly, I think Neal should have tackled James to the floor and called Diana.
Tell me Hughes and his friends will be able to help. They have the evidence against Pratt now (although there's no chain of custody, so someone's going to have to authenticate a lot of documents).
Tell me they'll sort it out quickly. Maybe not in time for Elizabeth's dinner reservations, but Peter will make it up to her real soon now. They're not going to let Peter twist in the wind, are thye?
I'm sick of conspiracies. I'm sick of good guys getting framed. Can we can it for a while?
