Has she tried Diana Wynne Jones?
No, and there surfaces the problem I mentioned to a different commenter above: Small Child is biased against books we recommend! We must be very, very careful. I did finally get her to read The Egypt Game, but the gentlest push towards Anne of Green Gables and the sequels seems to have ensured that she has no interest, though her grandmother gave her the first two books as gifts. (I think the seriously unattractive cover on the first one doesn't help!) SC is very contrary. I remind myself all the time that we can hope this annoying quality also protects her against peer pressure to do dangerous, stupid, or immoral things.

I loved Diana Wynne Jones and am rather hoping she'll find DWJ on her own so that I can reread the books! At this point, I don't even remember which of her books I read. I know it was Witch Week that got me hooked, and then I read all the ones our library had.

I only learned fairly recently that DWJ has written some adult fiction, too. Have you read any of it? Do you like it?
