I have very mixed feelings about "The End of Time." Lots of spoilers, starting with complaints )

Here's what I liked )

I'm curious to see what Matt Smith will do with the role—but no spoilers, please. I'll get there in my own time (and BBC America's).

Questions for discussion )

Connie Willis will appear later this hour (6:20 Eastern Standard Time, US) on Studio 360 (Public Radio International; airs on many NPR stations). They're currently talking to a physicist about time travel.

I was under the impression that there was an invention called a "necklace shortener" that would help me deal with necklaces where the pendant falls under my top's neckline because the chain isn't long enough for it to hang outside but isn't quite short enough to keep the pendant above the neckline.

Attempts to find "necklace shortener" at Amazon or using Google seem to turn up 1) necklaces that can be set to two different lengths or 2) a little gizmo that lets one take really long strands of beads and double them over so that they are now double strands hooked in back. While #2 might be useful for two particular necklaces that I own, I have several necklaces whose chains are just a little too long.

Can I get something to shorten them? Or is my best bet to buy a chain or a couple of chains of shorter lengths? The necklaces involved have silver chains (or silvery—don't know if all are really silver) of varying fineness.

I just got a couple more necklaces for Christmas, one of which has a pendant that dropped instantly right inside my blouse. I spent the day pulling it out, only to have it slide back in. It seems that some kind of shortener or new chain would be a better solution than replacing my blouses!
