(The icon is completely gratuitous. Do you know how many screenshots I had to view to get a halfway decent one with George and Annie that I could make into a 100x100 square? Hundreds! Well, scores. I really wanted one from 1.05, but their faces were too far apart in the scene I wanted--plus they both had really odd looks on their faces in most of them.)
ahem I do have a point, and it's totally unrelated to Being Human (except that I see people abbreviating that BH, and I'm already confused, because BH is Brilliant Husband). So my BH called Verizon today about an extra charge, and, while he was on the line, the service rep said, "Did you know that your cable, phone, and Internet are all being billed à la carte? We can combine those, save you money, and probably improve your Internet speed a little."
BH is very pleased. We're going to save about $150/year. I guess I'm a pessimist, glass-half-full kind of girl, because I'm thinking "We paid $300 we shouldn't have!" Mostly, we've been happy with Verizon. I just wish someone had noticed this earlier.
The moral of the story: if you get more than one service from the same provider, check and make sure you aren't paying more than you should. You'll thank me later (oh, wait--that's another show).

Mostly we've been happy with Verizon. They're better than our previous providers by a long shot!

(The last time was the occasion when, at the end of a list of things, they tried to sell me cable, and I answered, "We have one television channel and five thousand books. You do the math." Actually we no longer have even one TV channel since digital!)
Comcast, OTOH, really stinks. Fortunately, my husband is the one with the Comcast account, and so he deals with them. (And he doesn't want to change providers and be forced to change email.) *g* And when I get the annoying marketing calls from them, they always ask if I'm Mrs. Husbands-last-name, which I'm not because I didn't change my name. And then they won't talk to me because I'm not the account holder....suits me fine! I pay the $20 a month to keep my old dialup account with Earthlink, which I can access over the broadband connection, and still keep the same email address I've had for 11 years. Not ideally efficient, but given that we both want to keep our email addresses, not too terrible either.
