Okay, I'm working on installment two of my Primeval as it ought to be, and I really need help with a location: Stephen's flat, as seen in season 2. It doesn't seem to me to fit together properly, although I may be able to accept Brilliant Husband's solution.
In the episode where Stephen comes home to find Helen in his shower, we see what appears to be a hotel room. Seriously, Stephen comes through a door with a newspaper (which made me think this door was his front door, but Brilliant Husband thinks it's not), walks through the bedroom, and arrives at a bathroom right off the bedroom, where he finds Helen. He has towels and apparently multiple first aid kits in the bathroom. He has a bed, and it has sheets. From this episode, as far as I can tell, Stephen owns nothing more than the clothes he's wearing and his iPod, a set of weights, and improbably located plants. (Are furnished apartments common in London? Do they all come with that many mirrors? I count three full-length mirrors: two in the bedroom, one in the bathroom.)
In 2.06, when Stephen is at his place with Helen, we see a lounge area off a kitchen; there appears to be a small dining area just beyond the kitchen area. It's still pretty sparsely furnished. I'm fine up to this point--but when Helen leaves to go meet her "reporter friend," she goes down a flight of stairs from the lounge area to go outside! Huh?
BH works this out thus: next to the dining area the wall comes out; BH puts a door there that leads directly to the bedroom, then the bathroom beyond. A bit odd that Stephen takes his newspaper to his bedroom or possibly his shower, but okay. Stephen's flat is a second-floor studio apartment, with a stairway leading down to the entrance (not entirely unlike Abby's flat, where the door is at street level but the flat is up the stairs).
Or did the writers just leave yet another mess for me to clean up?
I will take any and all help if anyone caught anything I didn't. I have just spent way too much time on this and dragged BH, who at first refused, into watching these scenes and making me a diagram of Stephen's flat.
