Birmingham, UK drops apostrophes from road signs--apparently they kept arguing about one particular apostrophe at meetings, and finally an official decided to scrap them all.
I've seen all kinds of people up in arms about this, and maybe I should be, but somewhere, in the recesses of my mind, a calm Canadian voice is saying, "That's just silly, Ray."
