I in the personal sense do sometimes use ibu for headaches, too; I find them more effective at times (especially if it's really more of a neck ache, usually strain-induced). More importantly, I always have them around for other reasons, and I don't always keep around acetaminophen (what the British call paracetamol, though I may have misspelled it; I don't know what you call it). My doctors have said it's safe as long as I don't overuse it.
