National Book Week

From [livejournal.com profile] bentleywg:
It's National Book Week. The rules: Grab the closest book to you. Go to page 56. Copy the 5th sentence as your status. Don't mention the book. Post these rules as part of your post.
So here goes:

(I grabbed a book I just bought this afternoon. I opened to page 56.

The entire page is blank.)

Brief update: been a bit busy, responding randomly to some posts (and virtually no e-mails) and putting other posts (and all e-mails) aside to read later. I haven't disappeared. Well, maybe I have, but I'll be back.

I can't be stuffed posting this on my lj (I've been badly affected by the attacks) but I wanted to see what came up in The Friday Night Knitting Club.

thing that Lucie said before packing up was that the meeting

Sorry about this but I enjoy our chats, it's just that Mum isn't too good and I've been a bit anxious. Today she was feeling good so hopefully she's picking up.

I *always* see these things when I'm at work, which usually means all I have at hand are quality manuals or test procedures. But at least this time the closest book is the one I'm reading. So. Hmm:

"Ironically, however despite his military background, Göring was not particularly military minded--strategically or operationally so, at any rate."

Well, I guess it's an improvement over quality manuals!
