Good Omens 2

So I watched the eagerly awaited second season of Good Omens! And I want MORE! Six episodes is just not enough.

I thought the season was uneven, to be honest.

it felt like they were drawing it out at times, with long flashbacks, so that they'd have material for a season 3. I found episode 3, with the subplot about the grave diggers, particularly depressing and not very good. It was hard to laugh at Crowley's antics after a character died partly due to Aziraphale's bumbling about and while her partner was suicidal.

But the last two episodes really got me laughing again, and then the final episode grabbed me by the heart. And promptly ripped it out! I was so happy for Nina and Maggie! The shopkeepers' association meeting/ball had me in stitches. Then Aziraphale—

Oh, Aziraphale. How could you? But at the same time, it felt very contrived. Crowley finally said something because Nina kept pushing him to think about the relationship and then to talk about it. Aziraphale missed all that. He was totally unprepared. I hope he's coming up with a plan as he's ascending that elevator. But my fuzzy little heart is broken, and I feel it will not be whole unless and until we get a good season 3 and get these two back together again. Yes, I'm being melodramatic. I'll blame Crowley for that, because why not?

I love the cast. The two leads were phenomenal again, and I'm more in love with the character than ever. Who'd have thought I could so love a demon? But he really is a "good lad," even if he denies it! And Aziraphale really, really wants to help! Metatron has tempted him. But God's not supposed to tempt; she generally leaves that to the devil! If I get into the theology, though, I'll exceed the character limits for DW (and the time I have available

John Hamm was glorious. I deeply disliked him first season and then could not believe how much I liked him in the second! It helped that he was so completely harmless. His love for Beelzebub didn't seem motivated to me (nor hers back), but they both made it work somehow!

Have I mentioned that I loved Maggie and Nina? I also liked the Doctor Who fan clutching the very first annual as he's escorted to safety among the demons, Crowley living out of his car with his plants, the horn-haired demon who kept getting discorporated, and so much more!

I must have a third season! I feel a little manipulated; it feels like they ended it there to ensure they GET a third season. But I must have it anyway!

I don't know why the cut text link appears twice. Cut text hates me here. For a while, the cut symbol didn't even appear among my choices, and when I tried to do it in html, I kept messing it up!
