I can't vouch for "arse ropes" personally (this requires more research), but forms of "rope" are well-attested for guts: MED entry.

Here we go: it's in the Middle English Dictionary under ars. I should note that it's a perfectly legitimate medical term.

Oh, yes—Old English is basically a foreign language. It has four cases (a fifth occasionally), a fairly foreign vocabulary, and syntax quite a bit freer than ModE. It takes a good semester to get a reading knowledge of it.
