aelfgyfu_mead: Aelfgyfu as a South Park-style cartoon (Aelfpark)

Except for the first one, I don't have much to say about these—just enjoy!

This five episode set of short videos was made to publicize a con, but I think it's funny and I can't even tell you where and when the con is. It's characters living in a magical world playing an RPG in our world: "Cubicles and Careers". I've linked to Episode 1; that links to Ep 2 and so on.

Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal and the Superfluous Female Protagonist.

"Cat and Lynx Become Inseparable Friends".

"'Weird Al' Yankovic On Parody In The Age Of YouTube"—with clips from his new album, Mandatory Fun.

(Also: I love that I have a miscellaneous group of links but have at least one tag I've already created that fits each.)
You have heard before of Doofus the cat, our very large Cowardly Lion. The other day, he had an adventure of sorts!

Brilliant Husband and I were finishing dinner; Daughter had already left. I remarked that Doofus had marched into the kitchen with purpose, because purpose is something he frequently lacks, and before I had even finished speaking, I realized what his purpose was. He had gone straight for one of the cabinets under the counter, opened it (one of the few things at which he is very good)—and gone straight in. I ran over to grab him, and he was already well into the cabinet; he seemed to be farther back than should be possible for a cat of his magnitude! I pulled him out with some difficulty. It felt as though he'd been farther in than the cabinet actually extended, I told Brilliant Husband.

"I think he was looking for Narnia," I said. "He almost made it there, too!"

BH dropped his voice into his Michael Keaton imitation. "I'm Aslan!" he said.

After I washed the stack of bowls he had crossed to get to the other side, I put a towel over them. Doofus kept trying to get back in for days, but I think he has finally stopped. (fingers crossed)

You've probably heard of Oscar the bionic cat. [livejournal.com profile] lunachickk posted a video of him walking on his new feet for the first time that I just had to share. Video below the cut )

As I told Lunie, Doofus insisted on getting into my lap just after I started the video. I'm darned if I know why; he hardly looked at the screen. Of course he had to turn around three times in my lap, and now he's making it hard to type. (The picture in my icon, by the way, is Sparky. I don't have a good one of Doofus. Plus, I like to confuse people. ;-) ) He's purring up a storm (but he's about to have to go, because I have work to do!).

Short item on BBC News; you can read that or skip it, and the video is just a clip.

See the full Catcerto at the Catcerto website; it's just under five minutes. Watch it. Pass it on. Trust me.

It's not like I have loads of cool icons. It is, however, very much like I'm still enjoying my expanded userpic space! So I'll do the meme all the cool kids are doing...if I can do this right Some of my icons, let me show you them )

Well, this weekend was the transitus of St. Francis, meaning when he "crossed over" from death to eternal life. We missed the transitus liturgy and the mass yesterday, but we did go to the pet blessing we get every year at this time, partly because we're in a Franciscan parish.

Sparky can't stand Doofus, so we do not take them to be blessed the same year; we do not want to be in the same car with both of them, even though it's just over a mile to church. I don't have a good picture of Doofus, so you get my Sparky Huntress icon.

Doofus is a good deal bigger. He's a rather silly-looking black-and-white, with half his nose white and half black, except that a the very bottom of the white half has black right on the nostrils, so he has a little mustache. He tends to keep his eyes wide open, looking perpetually surprised and, well, dumb. He's big, about sixteen pounds, and scared of darned near everything.

We put him on the harness but had to carry him to the car, because as we get outside, he wants to jump into a bush and hide. He went in the back seat with Small Child and cried all the way to church. When we got to church, we tried to get him to walk, but he tried to crawl under the car, and that set the pattern. Every time we put him down, he tried to get into the bushes, or he crawled under a wagon or carrier for some other animal. The poor guy was panicked! He did sniff several dogs and a couple of other cats, so he wasn't completely cowering in terror at every moment; he seemed to be afraid of the mass of animals rather than any individual. Small Child held him up for the holy water sprinkling, so he has been fully blessed. He was too scared to walk back to the car, but now that he's home, he seems quite happy. Maybe the blessing will keep him from falling out a window this year (though apparently Sparky's last year didn't help her--but at least she wasn't gone for hours!).

Happy St. Francis's Day (a day late, I guess), everyone! Blessings on all your pets too!

If you missed Cat-astrophe (The Original), just go back two entries, and this will make more sense.

Doofus has a microchip, but we've had Sparky long enough that microchips were not so common (if used at all) when we got her, and we never got one for her. So I said to Brilliant Husband, "Should we get a chip for Sparky?" He said, "Nah. She's not stupid enough to fall out a window." We call those 'famous last words.' )
